Bella Acapella is the first and only all-voices barbershop in Portugal and was established in January 2008. We are a fully auditioned chorus of amateur singers who love to sing and perform. Our members come from all walks of life and all ages.
We are associated with BiBA (Barbershop IBerian Association) and throughout the years have won various medals within this association, most recently the Gold medal of the Iberian chorus competition in 2024.

We sing mainly English songs in four part close harmony (‘barbershop style’). Our repertoire consists of Pop evergreens (Happy Together, Moondance, Africa, Can´t Buy Me Love), Musical Songs (This is the Moment, Summertime) and Tradionals (Water is Wide, Tomorrow is promised to No One, Amapola).

Bella Acapella has performed numerous concerts and ‘sings outs’ in various venues all over the Algarve, e.g. in Lagoa, Silves, Tavira, Olhão, São Brás de Alportel and Faro. All songs are sung by heart without sheet music and with the eyes on the conductor. This often creates a magical atmosphere where conductor and chorus craft a fascinating blend of music, emotion and connection.  

We are now with 34 members from different backgrounds and nationalities. During rehearsals the common language is English. We rehearse weekly in the Republica 14 Cultural Center in Olhão and enjoy an evening of singing and friendship. It is great fun and hard work. We are open to new members who like to sing and have the energy to invest time and talent in our community.
