Rob Does

Rob Does is the musical director of Bella Acapella

Rob Does is the conductor of Bella Acapella. Rob started his extensive musical training at the age of 7, singing in the children’s choir of the Dutch Broadcasting union. In his teenage years he played the piano and later the viola. Playing the viola he joined the European Youth Orchestra.
From his twenties he started conducting and singing in various (youth) choruses. Before moving to Portugal, he has sung in a Dutch acapella sextet for over 10 years. Recently he participated in the Barbershop Conductor Academy in Sheffield (UK) and the Lisbon Choral Conducting Masterclass.

Music and teaching are Rob´s passion, especially when it comes to vocal music. Rob has joined Bella Acapella as an MD in 2017. Under his direction the chorus has grown in both quality and size. He is a driving force behind a further professionalization of the chorus and the chorus organization. He also initiated our participation in the BiBA Competition 2024 where we took home the Gold Medal for winning the Iberian contest!

Rob is currently running a boutique B&B in the Algarve region, together with his partner Peter. He loves to travel, to write and enjoys fitness and running. We are happy to have Rob as an energizing and always optimistic Musical Director.
